Welcome to Mansfield 2020 – the pioneering business development and networking organisation (formerly known as Mansfield 2010) was set up in the spring of 1991 by local business people with the aim of promoting and revitalising the town after the decline of the traditional mining and textile industries.
A powerful partnership between the public and private sectors and community support organisations, Mansfield 2020 has been the driving force behind many ambitious and exciting ventures, including the £40m MARR Route. The organisation promotes innovation, supports and nurtures inward investment and creates a platform for dialogue between all agencies in the private and public sectors. Established to spearhead vital regeneration efforts, Mansfield’s premier business networking organisation has pulled out all the stops in a bid to transform the town into a dynamic business and enterprise location for the 21st century.
Over the years, Mansfield 2020 has grown in strength and profile, attracting a flurry of local and national interest. Taking into account a bold new set of objectives the group is committed to the continued regeneration of Mansfield from both an economic and social point of view.
Now boasting over 160 members and 12 directors, all of whom encourage trade and retain employment within the area, Mansfield 2020 regularly draws over 130 members to its informative monthly breakfast meetings to discuss the latest opportunities for Mansfield businesses.
Already well ahead of schedule in many target areas, the initiative has helped to create over 8,000 jobs and continues to offer first-class support services to local businesses.
The popular monthly breakfast meeting, which has evolved into a premier networking event and has been hailed as the best in the county and perhaps the country. These successful meetings are extremely well attended by the local business fraternity, with a regular attendance of over 130 members and have attracted big-name speakers including the Governor of the Bank of England, Chairman of the CBI, The Rt Hon Lord Joel Barnett (House of Lords), Justin Urquhart-Stewart (financial guru), Hugh Pym (BBC Business & Industry Correspondent) and Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable.
Our geographical coverage focuses primarily on an area that stretches between the M1 and A1 (M) motorways down to the north of the City of Nottingham and up to the northern boundary of the county of Nottinghamshire; however it is also fully recognised that the economy of an area is interlocked with the prosperity of the East Midlands region and, more broadly, the UK and EC as a whole.
“Over the years we have made immense progress from the bleak times in the early 1990′s when we were faced with the demise of our traditional industries. There are still many challenges ahead and we are confident that we will continue to move Mansfield towards a better future.” Irvin Robinson – Chairman
