Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 together we mean business

Mansfield Area Partnership

Engaging Local Businesses with Young People

The Mansfield Area Partnership (MAP) is ambitious for all young people across the partnership.

It is committed to creating high quality learning opportunities which inspire and engage young people and of which the partners can be rightly proud. They believe by working together we can have a greater impact in improving outcomes for young people, particularly in relation to their achievement, enjoyment and economic wellbeing.

The Mansfield Area Partnership is made up of the following Mansfield Schools:

  • The Brunts Academy
  • The Manor Academy
  • Garibaldi College
  • Queen Elizabeth’s Academy
  • All Saints Catholic Voluntary Academy
  • Meden School

It also includes Mansfield District Council, Mansfield 2020, Mansfield Area Strategic Partnership and local employers.

The MAP sought to find ways of tackling high levels of youth unemployment, the withdrawal of government funding for work experience and careers guidance programmes. In addition the MAP wanted to respond to recommendations in high profile reports such as the Heseltine Review 2012 and the House of Commons Select Committee Report on Careers Education for Young People and the CBI Report – First Steps. employers.

These were key drivers for the MAP to work collaboratively and develop a local Careers and Employability Framework to ‘bridge the gap’ between young people and employers. Partners are committed to young people, and have given a range of opportunities to youngsters to work with and meet local employers so they can make informed career decisions and develop employability skills to secure future jobs, further training and education.
