​When Sport and Fundraising collide...

On Saturday 15th March 2014, a group of enthusiastic supporters of Portland College spent two fun-filled hours in the specialist college’s Leisure Centre playing Wheelchair Rugby as part of a fundraising effort.

​College principal and leading educationalist Asha Khemka awarded Damehood at Buckingham Palace

The principal and chief executive of West Nottinghamshire College has spoken of her pride at receiving her Damehood from HRH The Prince of Wales.

Asha Khemka, who was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the New Year Honours List, was presented with the honour at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace today (Friday 14 March, 2014).


LOCAL vintage and modern craft workshop Brewhouse Crafts, based in the Victorian building that houses Making it! Discovery Centre, has been voted among Britain’s best in a prestigious national competition.

FAMILY-owned construction firm, Robert Woodhead Limited, has been out and about during National Apprenticeship Week promoting the benefits of working in the construction industry.

The Nottinghamshire company is committed to encouraging young people to pursue a career in construction, as well as offering opportunities to those looking for office-based positions.

Our breakfast meetings are still scheduled for the last Thursday of every month and still attract over 100 attendees from various industries of all sizes with the objective to do business locally and improve our business community.

​Career Champions Support Practical Employability Workshops!

Career Champions for Mansfield schools worked alongside Young people from Garibaldi College and Queen Elizabeth’s Academy to address the Year 13 students who have chosen not to go to university and provide them with practical advice to maximise all their opportunities.

​Nurturing the Writers of Tomorrow!

The annual Short Story competition is well on the way as students from Mansfield schools and Vision West Nottinghamshire College have created and submitted a short fiction based story or poem of 500 words or less.
